Got a girlfriend and want to change the world?

A few months before I started proudn00b, I met my last girlfriend, who was there when I quit my last job to take off the last 2 months, learn how to code, and start this blog. Definitely a crazy thing to do in the middle of a recession, but you have to pursue your interests. Since that day, July 16, 2010, and with the help of some great friends-

proudn00b has had 27,000+ pageviews

Last week, my roommate and I launched Dotty-dots. 

Since Thursday, Dotty-dots has had 117,000+ pageviews 

Lesson: With the right people, you truly can do anything. 

However, if you too venture off the well worn path, know many people cannot handle the uncertainty you will endure. You will get lost. You will have to blaze your own trail to the summit. Along the way, some people, cofounders, employees, friends, and even girlfriends will get disillusioned. Yesterday when we broke up, to quote my ex:

“I dont want to help a little boy find his way”

Lesson: Whether you like it or not, the ‘right people’ change as you grow.

Mark Cuban was once asked: 

YM: Did you have to sacrifice your personal life in order to become a business success?

CUBAN: Sure, ask about five of my former girlfriends that question… 

When you take that chance, the risks are not only financial or technical. There are also emotional and personal mines just waiting to be stepped on. 

Once you’ve set one off, internalize what Paul Graham said in his post, “How Not to Die” -

…bad shit is coming… So don’t get demoralized. When the disaster strikes, just say to yourself, ok, this was what Paul was talking about. What did he say to do? Oh, yeah. Don’t give up.

I think you are great, but I have many problems.

1. I can’t change the default blog or my username
2. No standards within the Custom Themes. So CSS is a new mess everytime
3. Comments - just integrate with Disqus fully
4. Combine Notes + Disqus 
5. Notes are confusing bc they aren’t comments, which the world is used to.
6. I can’t add a landing page, and have the tumblog under that ex. Home>Blog
7. Set default blog on iphone app
