Keep it Simple

Yesterday, Mark Brenig-Jones and I released Dotty Dots- an app based on Rob Hawkes’ HTML5 bouncing effect.  Dotty Dots lets you input any text, and turn it into bouncing balls. Thats it.

The key take away from this launch was: KEEP IT SIMPLE!

Dotty dots has no registration, no login. Just an input form, and, bam.  24 hours ago, I thought I designed simple apps, but I was wrong. Even mine were complex. A form here, a couple actions there. All of that isn’t necessary.

My advice, just boil it down to one action, and if that sticks, grow from there. This lets you launch quicker, and learn faster.

To better prove the point, here are yesterday’s analytics.

Liked the Google Logo?

Inspired by Google’s bouncing ball logo a few days ago…

Mark Brenig-Jones and I threw together a little app with Rob Hawkes’ effects. Mark did all of the heavy lifting, I just used my free time to build the letters. Pretty cool!
