How do you handle outside feedback?

Housefed has gone through 3 iterations in about 2 weeks - and it is still an Alpha. So what has changed in that time period? Well I changed the site to fit Plan B, but am now concerned, and think I should have just focused on Plan A.

When I have an idea, I go through a cycle - a cycle that I’ve gotten fairly familiar with.

  1. Inspiration strikes - Eureka! A killer idea!
  2. Plan A - sketches, models, and what data will be needed
  3. Start coding, and share the idea with a few friends
  4. Get it out to a few people, and get outside feedback
  5. STOP - Plan B - a new idea strikes that seems so incredible it must be built
  6. Integrate the new idea into the old
  7. Realize the new idea trumps the old idea, so scrap the old code
  8. Get 90% done with Plan B, and lost in my own work
  9. STOP…again… take stock of what was the original plan, the original idea, and try to figure out where to go from here

I seriously doubt I’m the only one out there with this start - stop workflow. The catalyst is outside feedback. Basically I’m like a dog with a flashlight. Shine one spot, but the minute the light moves, I’ll run right after it.

So my question is, ‘How do you handle outside feedback?’ This current process is killing my productivity.
