Alpha Testing this Weekend
I will be opening the new site for testing this weekend. If you would like to help out, please leave a comment on this post.
Some people left comments on the first post, that works fine too :)
If you love food & cooking (and outside the US), then I would really appreciate your help!

I’m 99% done with the backend for the new site. There is one bug left that drove me to Trader Joes to pick up frozen chicken tikka masala.. I kid you not.
StackOverflow Question: Django-AttributeError
Any Django experts have any ideas?
Thanks guys!
PS I’ll let everyone in on the new site…

International Domain Names
I own an international domain for a top 50 website. What should I do with it? Approach them to sell? Sit on it? Can they take it?
Just wondering….
Thanks in advance for your answer/help!

Google Analytics Trick
When you are running Google Analytics, you should filter out your own visits so you get a more accurate sense of your traffic. Here’s how you do it.
In Google Analytics,
1. Click Filter Manager
2. Click Add Filter
3. Exclude Traffic from the IP address equal to (Your IP). Find your IP address here.
A n00b trick, but a good one. Happy n00bing!

#Django #S3 #Google #Checkout #Help
I’m working on the Mystery project, and I’ve gotten a ton done in the last week. Most of the backend is complete except these final pieces.

Integration with Google Checkout for user payments
With S3, I have been playing with django-storages, but I am at a loss for why it isn’t working. I haven’t started looking at Google Checkout, but if...

New Idea!
Got hit with a new idea last night- coding like a madman until it’s out the door.
For the moment, I’m pausing the other projects I’ve been working on.
Let me know if you’d like to be a beta tester! :)
Ooooh I’m excited!
Update:
Thanks to Mentor77- taking a lot of that code. Basic structure set up. Boom!

Bored? Give this a whirl
For my interview Monday, I’m using the company’s API & main stylesheet to build a little site for filtering through their data. I highly recommend building little sites like this. Since I started a little more than 24 hours ago, I have learned a tremendous amount.
In working with their API, I have gotten more familiar with Javascript, JSON, and how to wrestle with an API. That in...

WDYT? New Coding Blog
In preparation for the interview yesterday, I met up with @Sasha who threw me a curve ball, “You should write for a tech magazine.” Come again!?
A few weeks ago, we had a conversation around this question I posted on Hacker News -
“Ask HN: Is anyone else tired of reading the same articles?”
My points are :
I’m tired of reading vague news stories about...

2011: One with JS
One of my New Year’s Resolutions was to become an “expert at JS.” Well I’m taking that a step further.
2011 is the year I become one with JS
This blog is going to get JS heavy for the rest of the year - mastery is my goal.
Just letting everyone know. :)

UPDATED Code Review: Hirelite Puzzle in JS
On Hackernews this morning, there was a post for Hirelite. As they state it, “Hirelite hosts web-based and in-person speed interviewing events that connect companies and startups with job seekers and co-founders.” There is a hiring event on 1/11 so I figured, why not try it out?
For the event on the 11th, they pose a question to you, “to make sure you are a real...

2011 New Year's Resolutions
Last year, I started writing down my New Year’s Resolutions. Here is that list which I wrote down a year ago today:
Attend more tech events - meet more people (Accomplished)
Drink more water (Ehh not really Accomplished)
Appreciate what you have (Accomplished)
Learn to program (Accomplished)
I’d always heard, “If you write down your goals, you have a higher chance of...
